The Science of the Perfect Temperature to Vape
Lower Temperatures (160–180°C / 320–356°F)
At lower temperatures, lighter aromatic compounds begin to vaporise first. Terpenes such as limonene and pinene are released early, producing brighter citrus and pine notes. Vapour is lighter and the effects tend to feel clearer and more energising.

Mid-Range Temperatures (180–200°C / 356–392°F)
This range is where most cannabinoids are efficiently vaporised. THC, which has a boiling point of around 157°C, is fully active here, alongside heavier terpenes such as myrcene.
Vapour becomes denser and the flavour profile deepens. Many users find this range provides the most balanced experience, combining both mental stimulation and body relaxation.
Higher Temperatures (200–220°C / 392–428°F)
At higher temperatures, compounds such as CBD (around 160–180°C) and CBN (~185°C) vaporise more efficiently. Vapour becomes thicker and effects shift toward deeper physical relaxation.
However, pushing temperatures above 220°C begins to approach the point where plant material may combust, which introduces smoke and unwanted by-products.

The “perfect” temperature is different for everyone. Some users prefer lower temperatures for flavour and clarity, while others increase the heat to encourage stronger body effects.
A common approach is to step through temperatures during a session. Starting at a lower setting allows you to enjoy the terpene profile first, then gradually increasing the temperature extracts heavier cannabinoids later in the session.
